Priorities

Affordable Housing

Burien and our region are facing a housing crisis. Home prices and rent are already a burden for many in our community and we need our council to lead on these issues. We need common-sense renter protections and to grow housing where families have the option to walk and take transit to schools, parks and local businesses. We also need to work to increase the availability of different housing types that provide opportunities for workers, young families, and seniors on fixed incomes. Rocco wants to make sure that we build the housing we need to grow and still be a place all residents can continue to live and thrive.

Safe Streets

One of the most important things we can do as a community is ensure that kids have safe routes to schools, parks, and their friends. Burien lacks sidewalks in most parts of the city and we need to create more spaces for kids and adults to walk, bike, and build community in their neighborhoods. Rocco wants to make sure folks can get where they need to go but also bring lower speeds in neighborhoods so everyone can travel safely, be it on foot, on a bike, or in their cars.

Working Together

Something that we need more than ever is a council that is willing to work together to solve problems facing our city. Today we have leaders more focused on pointing fingers than putting their heads together. Rocco will work to bring people together to accomplish things that citizens continually ask for, safer streets, youth programs, and public safety. We can work with our police force to focus on priorities that will make us safer and treat everyone with dignity and respect. We should also look beyond our borders and find collaborative solutions with our neighboring cities to do together what we couldn’t do alone.
